This favorite native perennial wildflower grows in open meadows and sunny sites throughout eastern North America. The bright yellow flowers with their distinctive black eye represent the cheeriest of floral displays. Sow the seeds anytime during the growing season in well-prepared soil in full sun. Spring-sown seeds will flower the same year, while late summer and autumn sowings result in flowers the following season. The plants will grow to two feet in height.
